Introducting Vista, our new and powerful Online Medical Image Viewer

We're introducing Vista, a medical image viewer built on the browser, designed to make modern medical image visualization tools accessible to everyone.

Vista on Mac

Vista features an extensive collection of tools that enable the user to view accurate representations of a patient's anatomy in 3D space, revealing details and structures missed using only standard 2D slices.

Built on the browser, you can access it on any browser, on any device, on any operating system. Whether you prefer working on your desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone, Vista works on all these devices. There are several advantages to building this application on the browser, the main one being that you will always get the latest and greatest version, and don't have to worry about updates or compatibility.

Vista's features are split into three profiles, depending on what mode you want to work on.

DICOM Viewer

In this profile, you can import NIfTI files or DICOM images in various formats, view, and analyze your 2D images. Once imported, you can scroll through all slices in the series in any orientation (Axial, Sagittal and Coronal) giving you a full 3D view of your images.

DICOM Viewer Profile on Vista

You can apply distinct colormaps to your images, to enhance your view of intricate details in each slice. The colormaps come in two sets:

  • Perceptually Uniform Colormaps: Equal steps in data are perceived as equal steps in the color space.
  • DICOM Standard Color Palettes: As the name suggests, these are defined in the DICOM Standard. Learn more about these color palettes here.

In addition, Vista provides tools to measure distances and angles in your images:

  • Vista appends X & Y axes, featuring 10 equally spaced points, onto the length and width of each slice in view. Each point includes the distance from the origin.
  • The 'Measure Distance' tool allows you to mark any two points on an image, and the distance between the two will be calculated and displayed in real time.
  • The 'Measure Angle' tool allows you to mark three points on an image, and the angle between the three will be calculated and displayed.

Volume Viewer

In this profile, you can apply Volumetric Scientific Colormaps or Medical Color Presets to create Interactive 3D Volume Renders of your images.

Volume Viewer Profile on Vista - Scientific Colormaps

Similar to the colormaps applied to 2D slices in the DICOM Viewer, in this context, you can apply a colormap to the entire volume, resulting in a 3D render as in the example above. For precise control over how different values in a volume are rendered, Vista provides the 'Colormap Widget'. Select a value on the widget, adjust the opacity, and transitions between opaque and transparent regions in the volume.

Volume Viewer Profile on Vista - Medical Color Presets

Broken down into CT and MRI categories, Vista includes a predefined list of 'Color Presets'. When applied, a color and opacity will be applied to each value in the Preset, resulting in a quick visual representation of your volumetric data. Use the Preset Adjustment Widget to fine-tune the render.

Geometry Viewer

In this profile, you can create 3D models of different tissues and organs from CT and MRI Scans, using the 'Create Isosurface' tool. These 3D models can be exported to share with colleagues or for further analysis.

Volume Viewer Profile on Vista

The tool works by generating a surface based on a selected intensity value present in the 3D scan. For example, you can generate a 3D representation of a tumor or an organ by identifying regions within the scan that meet specific intensity thresholds.

Physicians use these models in a number of ways:

  • Enhanced Diagnosis
  • Pre-Operative Planning
  • Patient Education
  • Medical Training

It is much easier to understand and interact with complex anatomical structures in three dimensions.

Privacy

As this application is built on the browser, you may have concerns around privacy, and the security of your medical data. For clarification, when using Vista, any medical images you import are processed directly within your web browser. This means the image data, and any derived information, never leaves your device. We do not transmit or store your medical images, or any associated data, on our servers.

Pricing

Vista is available in three tiers:

  • Free ($0.00): Aimed at occasional users and hobbyists, in this tier, you get 15 credits per month. Every time you import a new series of images, one credit is consumed. At the beginning of every month, the credits will refresh back to 15. This tier will remain free forever.
  • Unlimited ($49.99): As the name suggests, in this tier, you have Unlimited Access to Vista. There is no credit system. Import as many images as you like, and use the application for however long you want. Here, you will get priority support if you have any questions or need guidance. This tier is best suited to students or medical professionals.
  • Enteprise (Contact Us): This tier is for companies or organizations. Here, you will get Unlimited Access for multiple users under a single license. As with the Unlimited Tier, you will aslo get priority support if you have any questins or need guidance.
